Abishek Porel's retention, presence in all games show how much DC values him: Badani

DC coach Hemang Badani heaped praise on Abishek Porel and said that his retention and presence in all games shows the faith that the team have in him. Badani feels that Porel brings in a lot of value to the team as a left-handed batter.

“The very fact that we have retained him gives you a message that we value him, and the very fact that he features in all our games also tells you that he is somebody we think has a massive upside. He has already done well for us this year and as you would see that sides want to stack up with left-handers, right-handers, he adds massive value with him being a left-hander and even though KL keeps wickets, he has got great hands in the field as well,” said Badani.

Demolition Drive in Delhi's Shalimar Bagh: Madina Masjid and Nearby Houses Razed for Road Project

A demolition drive was carried out under heavy police deployment in Delhi's Shalimar Bagh area to facilitate an ongoing road-widening project leading to Max Hospital. Civic authorities deployed bulldozers late at night to demolish parts of Madina Masjid along with several adjoining residential structures identified as encroachments. Civic agencies stated that notices had been issued prior to taking down the structures to clear the road. Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) banks in India may remain shut for five consecutive days from September 26 to September 30 due to a three-day nationwide strike called by bank employee unions, combined with the regular weekend closure on fourth Saturday and Sunday. The key demands raised by the bank unions include the implementation of a five-day working week and the complete withdrawal of the Performance-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. Customers have been advised to complete essential branch-related work, including cash deposits, cash withdrawals, cheque clearances, and loan processing, before September 25 to avoid disruptions. While physical bank branches will remain closed during the strike period, digital channels such as ATMs, UPI transactions, internet banking, and mobile banking services are expected to remain functional. The government is currently holding discussions with stakeholder associations, urging them to reconsider the proposed strike.

India and Canada are moving towards finalising a landmark bilateral trade deal by December, aiming to achieve a 70 billion dollar push in trade. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Canada around the middle of December, coinciding with the G20 Summit timeline to conclude the negotiations. The proposed agreement marks a reset in bilateral ties, shifting focus towards energy cooperation, defence, talent mobility, and market diversification. The two nations are seeking to move past previous diplomatic friction over the Nijjar issue to build a stronger economic partnership. Discussions highlight Canada's interest in supplying energy resources like oil and uranium to India's expanding market of 1.5 billion people. However, key challenges remain, including internal resource extraction regulations in Canada and bureaucratic hurdles in India. The potential pact follows several major trade agreements signed by India since 2021, presenting a new chapter of economic collaboration between both democracies.
