After iPhone 18 Pro, Apple to launch iPad Mini with OLED display, report says
Apple is reportedly preparing a revamped iPad mini with an iPhone-like OLED display. The new tablet is said to be still on track to launch before the end of October.
Apple’s iPad mini is expected to receive a refresh. The company is reportedly preparing a revamped version of its smallest tablet with a major display upgrade. And this is said to be an OLED screen similar to the one used on the iPhone.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new iPad mini is still on track to launch this fall and will arrive before the end of October. Gurman also revealed that the revamped tablet will feature an iPhone-like OLED display, marking a notable upgrade for the compact iPad.
New iPad mini could get its biggest display upgrade
It is worth noting that the iPad mini has not seen a major display change in years; it carries an 8.3-inch LCD display. So, the move to OLED could make the upcoming model considerably more interesting. For those who don’t have much idea about what an OLED panel is, it is a panel that can deliver deeper blacks, better screen contrast and more vibrant colour or visuals compared to conventional LCD screens.
For a small tablet that is often used for watching videos, reading, browsing the web and gaming, the display upgrade could make a noticeable difference. And with Apple already using OLED technology across its more premium devices, bringing it to the iPad mini would make the tablet feel a little less like the odd one out in Apple's lineup.
The new iPad mini is expected to arrive before the end of October, according to Gurman. That puts the launch after September 9, when the iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to be revealed.
Apple has plenty more products coming
The new iPad mini will reportedly be part of a much larger product refresh from Apple. The company is preparing new Macs, Apple Watches and AirPods, along with the much-anticipated iPhone 18 Pro series and its first foldable iPhone.
Apple is also working on a new Mac mini, while additional Macs with the upcoming M6 chips are expected further down the line. The company is even preparing its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, although that device is still further away.
