A POCSO case has been registered against a school kitchen helper, Ganpat Gawli, after 22 minor girls from classes six to ten alleged sexual assault and molestation at a tribal boarding ashram school in Maharashtra. Gawli, who had previously been arrested in a 2024 POCSO case at Shahapur police station, was reinstated following a suspension and posted to another school. According to the investigation, the incident came to light after a student lodged a complaint on 23 August about inappropriate touch after mealtime, leading 21 more girls under the age of 18 to come forward with similar allegations. Police confirmed Gawli was arrested on 26 August as departmental inquiries and investigations continue.
