Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan clinched the silver medal in the women's 10-metre air rifle individual event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. This marks the second silver medal for India at the Games, following the silver won earlier in the women's 10-metre air rifle team event, in which Elavenil was also a member. Leading into the final four shots of the individual contest, she narrowly missed out on the gold medal by the barest of margins. Her achievement follows in the footsteps of her mentor Gagan Narang, who secured two silver medals in both the individual and team events sixteen years ago.

Speaking on 'Doctor vs Internet' with host Sonal Mehrotra Kapoor, renowned cardiologist Dr Ashok Seth addressed the growing incidence of heart disease among Indians at an early age. He explained that South Asians carry a high genetic predisposition coupled with significant visceral fat, elevated LPA levels, diabetes, and hypertension, describing an Indian individual as a "loaded gun" if triggers are activated. Dr Seth emphasized that sudden severe exercise, heavy weightlifting, and smoking—including vaping and passive smoke—can precipitate fatal heart attacks even in normal or mildly blocked arteries. Highlighting the need for preventive healthcare, he recommended lipid profiling by age ten for those with family histories, lifelong LPA testing, and regular monitoring of blood pressure and sugar levels. He also outlined the correct medical technique for measuring blood pressure at home.

A political dispute has erupted in Tamil Nadu over the proposed new Secretariat at Pattinambakkam. While the opposition has raised objections, ally CPM has issued a warning to the Tamil Nadu government led by Chief Minister Vijay, demanding the withdrawal of the government order passed for the site. Reminding the government of its outside support, the CPM stated that decisions must not be taken authoritatively and called for an all-party meeting to discuss the matter democratically. In response, Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi defended the plan, stating that no final decision has been taken and that only a government order for a detailed feasibility project report was issued. He stressed that Chief Minister Vijay prioritises the welfare of fishermen and questioned the opposition's attempt to politicise the matter.

A fatal hit-and-run road accident occurred in Delhi's Sarita Vihar when an out-of-control dumper rammed into a crane and a rickshaw on the road leading from Noida to the national capital. The incident took place while workers on the crane were installing a traffic police CCTV speed camera. Three workers were killed, three others sustained serious injuries and were admitted to hospital, while one escaped unhurt. The offending dumper driver fled the scene and remains untraceable. The Delhi Police have launched a probe and contacted the HR manager of the company operating the vehicle to trace the driver.
