Rehan Vadra Exhibition Row, Bikaner House Removes Photos Over Policy, Congress Cries Censorship

A controversy has erupted after the management of Delhi's Bikaner House directed the removal of over 70 photographs from photographer Rehan Vadra's exhibition. The venue administration stated that the images depicted protests and were of a political nature, violating its booking policy that prohibits political content, communal themes, or nudity. Rehan Vadra complied by taking down the pictures but expressed disappointment, emphasising the venue's role in Delhi's art ecosystem and noting the remaining exhibits will stay on display until Sunday. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reacted by calling the decision a political move aimed at suppressing the voices of the youth, while the Congress party alleged deliberate censorship.

Bikaner House Defends Pulling Artworks, Vadra Flag Row Triggers Political War

A political controversy erupted after Delhi's Bikaner House directed artist Raihan Vadra, son of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, to take down several photographs depicting recent protests ahead of his exhibition titled 'No Idea Is Final'. While the Bikaner House Management Society defended its decision citing booking guidelines that prohibit political content, the Congress condemned the move as an attack on freedom of expression. Party leaders questioned why images featuring the national flag were deemed objectionable, with the Youth Congress organising mock exhibitions in protest. Defending his artistic expression, Raihan Vadra stated that cultural institutions have a duty towards artists and that removing over 70 images hours before the opening was unfair. The Bharatiya Janata Party accused the Congress of politicising the venue's standard rules to launch Vadra politically. Meanwhile, wildlife photographs from the collection remained on display as both sides engaged in a sharp political showdown.
