Atiq Ahmed (also spelled Atique Ahmed) was an Indian gangster-turned-politician who was born on August 10, 1962. He was a former Member of Parliament and a Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Samajwadi Party. Atiq Ahmed had more than 100 criminal cases registered against him and has been lodged in jail since 2019. He was shot dead on April 15, 2023.
Atiq Ahmed was elected as a member of the legislative assembly from the Allahabad west seat for five consecutive terms.
He was the president of Apna Dal from 1999 to 2003. From the year 2004 to 2009, he was elected as a Samajwadi party candidate for the 14th Lok Sabha from Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh.

In 2014, Atiq Ahmed staked claim on this land and sent his henchmen to give the message to Tandon that his brother has bought the property. When Rajiv Tandon refused to vacate the property, on October 30, 2014, Atiq Ahmed himself came to occupy the land with his cohort of armed goons in a car, which had Atiq Ahmed written on the back side. When Atiq Ahmed reached home, Rajeev Tandon was not there and his wife refused to open the door. Atiq Ahmed threatened her and went away. According to Rajeev Tandon, he filed a complaint against Atiq Ahmed at the police station during the rule of the Samajwadi Party. Instead of filing an FIR, the police, on seeing Atiq Ahmed's name, chased Tandon away. However, Tandon found a new way to save his property from going into wrong hands. Along with the school running in his ancestral house, Rajeev Tandon put up a board of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and started organizing programmes of the Hindu outfit. When the government changed in 2017, Rajeev Tandon also got an FIR lodged in Khuldabad police station in this matter. "I got an FIR lodged against my father Maheshwar Dayal, brother Ashish Tandon as well as Ajay Kumar Hela, who was negotiating the property on behalf of Atiq Ahmed, and Pappu Shukla, son of Atiq Ahmed's accountant Sitaram Shukla, said Tandon.
