Ayushman Card
The Ayushman Card is issued under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), one of the world's largest government-funded health insurance schemes. It provides eligible beneficiaries with cashless health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalisation.
The card enables beneficiaries to access treatment at empanelled public and private hospitals across India without worrying about high medical expenses. It covers a wide range of treatments, including surgeries, diagnostics, medicines, and hospitalisation costs.
To avail of the benefits, eligible individuals must verify their details and generate an Ayushman Card through authorised centres or online platforms. Once issued, the card serves as proof of eligibility under the scheme.
The initiative aims to reduce the financial burden of healthcare on economically vulnerable families and improve access to quality medical services. Beneficiaries can receive treatment in any empanelled hospital across the country, making healthcare more accessible and portable.
Over the years, Ayushman Bharat has emerged as a significant step towards achieving universal health coverage in India. By providing financial protection against major medical expenses, the Ayushman Card helps millions of families access timely healthcare while reducing out-of-pocket expenditure on treatment.
