John Abraham was born on December 17, 1972, in Mumbai. His father was a Malayali Syrian-Christian from Kerala and his mother was a Parsi Zoroastrian from Gujarat. He has acted, produced and written scripts in Hindi cinema. He also formerly worked as a model. He is also the co-owner of NorthEast United FC, a football team in the Indian Super League (ISL).
After modelling for advertisements and corporate entities, John Abraham made his Bollywood debut in the 2003 erotic-thriller film, Jism, opposite Bipasha Basu. He got his breakthrough role next year in the action-thriller film, Dhoom.
Other successful films in which John Abraham acted include Garam Masala (2005), Kabul Express (2006), Dostana (2008), New York (2009), Housefull 2 (2012), Race 2 (2013), Welcome Back (2015), Dishoom (2016), Parmanu (2018), Satyameva Jayate (2018) and Batla House (2019).

Amid acting in movies, John Abraham ventured into film production as well. The 2012 romantic comedy film, Vicky Donor, which was produced by his company JA Entertainment, earned him a National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
On April 13, 2014, John Abraham along with Shillong Lajong Football Club won the bidding for NorthEast United FC, a football club which participates in the ISL. John Abraham can be regularly seen supporting the team from the stands when they are playing in the ISL.
John Abraham married Priya Runchal, an investment banker, on January 3, 2014. He is also a fitness model.
