Hyderabad Uber driver's career switch from Amazon is a feel-good story you can't miss
An Uber ride in Hyderabad turned into a viral moment when driver Kumar told Chetna Singh he had left Amazon to pursue his passion for driving.

A video featuring a former Amazon employee in Hyderabad who quit the corporate world to become a cab driver is winning hearts online, not because of the career switch itself, but because of the simple reason behind it: he genuinely loves driving.
The clip was shared by content creator Chetna Singh, who is a software developer. During an Uber ride, Singh struck up a conversation with her driver, Kumar, and discovered an unusual career story.
The video begins with a text overlay that reads, “He left Amazon and started Uber/Rapido.” Introducing him to viewers, Singh explains that Kumar had previously worked at Amazon but chose to leave in order to pursue his passion for driving. She also notes that he is among Uber's highest-rated drivers.
As the conversation unfolds, Kumar speaks candidly about what drew him to the profession. For him, driving is about much more than getting people from one place to another. He explains that he enjoys meeting people from different backgrounds and countries, hearing their stories, and interacting with them throughout the day.
Driving around Hyderabad, he says, also allows him to explore the city he loves. His enthusiasm for the job is evident throughout the conversation, prompting Singh to remark that it is rare to come across people in India who actively choose passion over social expectations.
“In a country where most people leave their passions behind because of responsibilities and societal pressure, meeting someone who actually chose what makes him happy felt inspiring,” she wrote alongside the video.

When asked how long he had been driving professionally, Kumar revealed that he joined Uber in 2014 after leaving his previous job. Since then, he has completed nearly 23,600 trips, a figure that surprised many viewers.
The video quickly gained traction online, with users applauding Kumar's decision and outlook on life. One commenter wrote that the story inspired them to reconnect with a passion they had long neglected, while many others praised him for choosing fulfilment over convention.
“Great work, sir! You’re not following the crowd; you’re creating your own path,” wrote an Instagram user. “
A motivational story indeed!
