An Australian tourist's viral video from Kolkata has sparked widespread criticism online after it captured an uncomfortable encounter with a local man who repeatedly asked him for a kiss and continued to approach him despite being turned down.

The clip was shared on Instagram by travel content creator Marco Roams, who was exploring the city when the incident occurred. In the video, Marco is seen walking along a street when a young man sitting in a rickshaw calls out to him and repeatedly says, "Kiss me here, kiss me."

Caught off guard by the request, the tourist responds politely but firmly. "Kiss you? No sorry, I'm straight," he says, attempting to move on. However, the interaction does not end there.

The young man continues to insist and is also seen holding Marco's hand as the tourist tries to walk away. Throughout the exchange, Marco appears visibly uncomfortable and repeatedly attempts to disengage from the situation.

After finally distancing himself from the man, the Australian traveller reacts to what had just happened, saying, "Wow! Getting bloody molested by people younger than me."

The video also featured a text overlay that read, "Why do Indian guys always want you to kiss them?"

The clip has since attracted significant attention on social media, with many viewers expressing sympathy for the tourist and condemning the behaviour shown in the video. Several users pointed out that unwanted physical contact and persistent advances should not be dismissed as harmless jokes.

"I think you landed in the wrong India," one user commented.

Another urged authorities to take note of the incident, writing, "@kolkatapolice Kindly teach these boys a good lesson."

As the video continued to circulate online, many users stressed that respecting personal boundaries applies regardless of gender and that uncomfortable encounters involving tourists can leave a lasting impression of a destination. The incident has reignited conversations on social media about consent, public behaviour, and the importance of making visitors feel safe and welcome while travelling in India.
