Vadodara employee's simple reply about work leaves founder with a lesson on loyalty
A Vadodara-based founder of a company said she had often wondered why some employees choose to remain with an organisation even when offered better pay elsewhere.

The founder of a Vadodara-based company has shared a conversation with an employee whose response about being happy at work led her to reflect on why people choose to stay with a company.
In a post on LinkedIn, Unnati Gala said she had often wondered why some employees choose to remain with an organisation even when offered better pay elsewhere.
Addressing the moment that changed her perspective, Unnati recalled joking with one of her employees named Ishita Talwar, saying, "Kya pata tujhe double pay pe hire karna chahti ho (What if someone offered you twice your current salary)?" To this, Ishita replied, "I am happy where I am working."
The exchange, which Unnati also shared as a screenshot of their WhatsApp conversation, made her realise that employees often stay not just because of salaries, but because of how a workplace makes them feel.
Reflecting on her approach to leadership, Unnati said she has consciously tried to create an environment where employees feel trusted, respected, heard, and free to grow. She listed flexible working hours when genuinely needed, zero micromanagement unless support is requested, complete ownership over work, respecting personal boundaries, and discouraging work beyond office hours except in critical situations as some of the principles she follows.
"Moments like these remind me that culture is built on small everyday actions. Not just policies," she wrote, adding that while people may join companies for opportunities, they often stay because of trust, respect, and the work environment they experience every day.
Responding to the post, Ishita Talwar thanked Unnati Gala for believing in her and helping rebuild her confidence: "Grateful for all the chances you've given me and the confidence that you've helped me muster back! Happy kiddo at work.”
