Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift to launch today: Here's everything coming for the first time

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the facelifted Brezza today, marking the first major update to one of India's best-selling compact SUVs since the second-generation model debuted in 2022. While the design changes are evolutionary, the 2026 Brezza brings some of the biggest mechanical and technological upgrades ever seen on the nameplate, making it a significantly more comprehensive package than before.

Ahead of the official unveiling, dealership displays, spy shots and Bharat NCAP documents have already revealed most of what the updated SUV has to offer. From an all-new six-speed manual gearbox and a turbo-petrol engine to a larger infotainment screen and a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, here's everything that's new on the Brezza.

First Maruti Suzuki SUV with a six-speed manual

Perhaps the biggest talking point is the arrival of a six-speed manual gearbox. Bharat NCAP documents confirm that the facelifted Brezza will become the first Maruti Suzuki passenger vehicle to pair its familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a six-speed manual transmission.

Until now, Maruti Suzuki's 1.5-litre petrol-powered models, including the Grand Vitara, Jimny and Victoris, have all been offered with a five-speed manual gearbox.

The additional gear is expected to improve highway cruising by reducing engine speeds at higher velocities, while also contributing to better refinement and potentially improved fuel efficiency.

The 1.5-litre K-series petrol engine will continue to produce around 103bhp and 137Nm, and will also remain available with a six-speed automatic transmission. A factory-fitted CNG version is also expected to continue.

Turbo-petrol engine joins the Brezza line-up

Another major first for the Brezza is the addition of Maruti Suzuki's 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine.

Already available in the Fronx, the three-cylinder turbocharged engine develops 100bhp and 148Nm of torque and is expected to be offered exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox. This also marks the first time the Boosterjet engine gets a six-speed manual, replacing the five-speed unit currently used in the Fronx.

The introduction of a turbo-petrol option finally gives the Brezza a more performance-oriented alternative, allowing it to compete more directly with rivals such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Kia Syros, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Skoda Kylaq, all of which offer turbocharged petrol engines.

Bharat NCAP confirms five-star safety

The facelift arrives with another significant milestone. The updated Brezza has secured a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, becoming the fifth Maruti Suzuki model to achieve the distinction.

The SUV scored 30.41 out of 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 43 out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection. The crash test was conducted using the ZXi+ 1.5-litre automatic variant, with the rating extending to multiple manual, automatic and turbo-petrol variants listed in the Bharat NCAP documentation.

The result reinforces Maruti Suzuki's growing focus on vehicle safety while giving the Brezza an important advantage in the highly competitive compact SUV segment.

Fresh styling without changing the formula

The Brezza retains its familiar boxy proportions but receives enough cosmetic updates to distinguish it from the outgoing model.

At the front, the facelift gets a redesigned grille, revised bumper, new fog lamp housings and a larger silver skid plate-style insert. Higher variants are expected to feature a distinctive gold-finished grille, while new four-spoke alloy wheels freshen up the side profile.

The rear receives subtler revisions, including updated LED lighting elements and a mildly redesigned bumper.

Bigger technology upgrade inside

While the exterior changes are relatively restrained, the cabin receives a more substantial overhaul.

The biggest upgrade is expected to be a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Maruti Suzuki is also likely to expand the equipment list with several premium features, including:

• Ventilated front seats
• Wireless phone charger
• Ambient lighting
• Updated climate control interface
• Front parking sensors
• Auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror
• Electric sunroof
• Powered driver's seat (expected)
• Level-2 ADAS on higher variants (expected)

The overall dashboard layout remains familiar, but revised trim finishes and upholstery are expected to give the cabin a more premium feel.

Multiple powertrain options

According to the Bharat NCAP documentation, the updated Brezza will be available with three distinct powertrain combinations:

• 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol + six-speed manual
• 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol + six-speed automatic
• 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol + six-speed manual

The six-speed manual with the 1.5-litre engine is expected across LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+ variants, while the six-speed automatic will continue on VXi, ZXi and ZXi+ trims. The turbo-petrol manual is also expected to be offered across multiple variants.

Bookings already underway

Maruti Suzuki has already commenced bookings for the facelifted Brezza for a token amount of Rs 11,000, with deliveries expected to begin shortly after today's launch.

The outgoing model is currently priced between Rs 8.26 lakh and Rs 13.01 lakh (ex-showroom), and the updated SUV is expected to command a modest premium.

With a new turbo-petrol engine, the brand's first six-speed manual gearbox, a five-star Bharat NCAP rating and a significantly richer feature list, the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza is shaping up to be the most comprehensive update the compact SUV has received since its introduction. The launch is expected to further strengthen Maruti Suzuki's position in one of India's most fiercely contested SUV segments.
