Delhi govt approves Rs 33.31-crore relief for rain-hit farmers after crop losses
The Delhi government has approved Rs 33.31 crore to compensate farmers for rain and waterlogging damage in 2025. The move promises quick DBT relief while limiting payouts to eligible claimants.

The Delhi government has approved Rs 33.31 crore in compensation for farmers whose crops were damaged by heavy rainfall and waterlogging in August and September 2025, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on Friday. The relief will cover crop loss across more than 4,442.41 hectares of farmland in the national capital.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has directed the Revenue Department and District Magistrates to start the disbursement process without delay. Affected farmers will receive Rs 75,000 per hectare through the direct benefit transfer method, while the government has also set eligibility conditions to ensure that only genuine and eligible farmers receive the assistance.
According to the CMO, standing crops were destroyed across Delhi’s districts and subdivisions. “The Delhi government stands firmly with farmers, and the financial assistance is an effort to help them recover from the heavy losses caused by nature’s fury. The affected areas have been assessed as having suffered 100 per cent crop loss,” Gupta said.
The approved compensation includes Rs 2.74 crore for 364.74 hectares in Alipur (Narela), Rs 13 lakh for 17.33 hectares in Burari, Rs 38.63 lakh for 51.50 hectares in Punjabi Bagh (Mundka), and Rs 19.92 lakh for 26.55 hectares in Vikaspuri, the CMO said.
In the Kanjhawala area, relief of Rs 8.70 crore has been approved for 1,758.76 hectares in Mundka and Rs 4.49 crore for affected agricultural land in Bawana. Further, compensation of Rs 1.03 crore has been sanctioned for 137.59 hectares in Rohini (Mundka), and Rs 4.69 crore for 625.93 hectares in Kapashera (Matiala).
Affected areas covering a total of 1,459.97 hectares under Najafgarh and Matiala have been sanctioned Rs 9.98 crore and Rs 96.74 lakh, respectively. The CMO said land owned by companies of a corporate nature, cultivation on Gram Sabha land and farmhouses developed as plots with permanent boundary walls have been kept outside the scheme.
Overall, the assistance has been approved to compensate farmers for crop losses across Delhi, with payments to be made through DBT after the disbursement process begins.
