Not natural death: Family alleges foul play in Hyderabad student's death in Finland
The family of Hyderabad student Manideep Reddy has alleged foul play after his body was recovered from the sea in Helsinki. They have urged the Indian and Finnish governments to ensure a fair and transparent investigation.

The family of 18-year-old Hyderabad student, Manideep Reddy, whose body was recovered from the sea in Finland more than two months after he went missing, has alleged foul play and demanded a transparent investigation into his death.
Manideep Reddy, a native of Hayathnagar in Hyderabad, had travelled to Finland to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Software and Systems Engineering at LUT University. He went missing on May 5 after travelling from Lahti to Helsinki. A missing person complaint was filed with Finnish police at the request of his family.
His body was later recovered from the sea in Helsinki.
Finnish authorities have said there is currently no evidence of a criminal offence. However, they added that the investigation into the cause of death is still underway.
FAMILY QUESTIONS OFFICIAL VERSION
Manideep's family has rejected the possibility that his death was accidental or natural. They say several questions remain unanswered and have urged both the Indian and Finnish governments to ensure a fair investigation.
His mother, Mamata Reddy, said, "From the very first day, I believed my son was trapped and kidnapped. He cannot simply disappear without a trace. We believe there is much more to this case, and we want the truth to come out."
His father, G. Muthyam Reddy, also expressed doubts over the circumstances surrounding his son's death.
"We do not believe this was a natural death. Our son had no reason to take such a step. We have many unanswered questions and strongly suspect foul play. We appeal to both the Indian and Finnish governments to conduct a fair, transparent and thorough investigation so that those responsible, if any, are brought to justice," he said.
LAWYER RAISES CONCERNS
Earlier, the family's lawyer, KLB Kumar, said the Indian Embassy informed the family by email after receiving confirmation from Finnish authorities that the body had been recovered.
He claimed communication from Finnish authorities slowed after the initial stages of the investigation and alleged that several questions remain unanswered.
"We have many doubts. After two months, the body has been recovered. We strongly feel that it is a suspicious death and not a natural death," Kumar said.
He also urged the Central government to help Manideep's parents travel to Finland so they can identify the body and seek further information about the investigation.
