The accident occurred at around 3 pm. According to the police, the Scorpio first struck the loader carrying vegetables. The force of the collision also dragged a motorcycle travelling alongside into the crash, causing multiple casualties.

Emergency responders and police personnel rushed to the spot after receiving information and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Among those killed was 16-year-old Deepak, a resident of Lothar village in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district. He was sitting on top of the loader when the accident occurred and died on the spot due to the severity of the impact.

The second victim, Rajveer, 50, a resident of Suraura village in Sambhal district, sustained critical injuries and later succumbed while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The injured include loader driver Ashok Kumar (56), a resident of Ahmadpur in Shamli district, Akash (31), and Shankar (24), both residents of Sambhal district, and motorcyclist Abhishek Rai (29), a resident of Sirsi in Sant Kabir Nagar district.

Hospital authorities are treating the injured, and their condition is being monitored, police said.

Police completed the inquest proceedings for the victim before sending the bodies for post-mortem examinations.

Investigators have begun collecting evidence from the accident site, including examining the damaged vehicles and recording statements from witnesses to establish the exact sequence of events.

Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding by the Scorpio was the primary cause of the crash.

The SUV has been taken into police custody for further examination. However, its driver escaped immediately after the accident, prompting a search operation to locate and arrest him.

Police said a case is being pursued under relevant legal provisions, and further investigation is underway.

Officials are expected to examine CCTV footage from the area and other evidence to determine the circumstances leading to the collision. The findings of the investigation will decide the next course of legal action against the absconding driver.
