Delhi launches POCSO awareness month in schools, child safety protocols made mandatory
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a city-wide POCSO awareness campaign for schools. The July drive will pair student sessions with mandatory safety protocols to strengthen child protection.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday announced a city-wide POCSO awareness campaign to strengthen child safety measures in schools across the national capital.
The Delhi government has declared July as 'POCSO Awareness Month', during which all schools will conduct awareness programmes for students.
Announcing the initiative, Gupta said the campaign is not limited to spreading awareness but is a comprehensive effort to ensure the safety and well-being of schoolchildren.
As part of the programme, every school in Delhi will organise sessions to educate children about 'good touch' and 'bad touch', helping them identify unsafe situations and encouraging them to report abuse.
The government will also introduce mandatory child safety protocols in all schools to strengthen institutional safeguards and improve the protection of students.
The initiative is aimed at increasing awareness of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act while promoting a safer school environment across Delhi.
ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
The campaign will be rolled out across government and private schools throughout July, with a focus on educating students, teachers, and school staff about child protection.
Schools will also be encouraged to strengthen their internal reporting mechanisms and ensure that children have access to a safe environment where they can report concerns without fear.
The government said the initiative is aimed at building awareness from an early age and reinforcing schools' responsibility in preventing and responding to cases of child abuse.
