Actor Rajesh Sharma's medical statement removed as film body seeks probe
The statement shared by actor Sudipa Chatterjee on Rajesh Sharma's medical emergency is no longer available on social media. The development comes as the film workers' body has called for a high-level probe into the circumstances that allegedly led to the actor's hospitalisation.

A statement shared by actor Sudipa Chatterjee on Wednesday regarding Rajesh Sharma's hospitalisation after an alleged insect bite on the set of Prabhas' upcoming film has been deleted from social media within 24 hours of being posted. The development comes even as the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has called for a high-level probe into the incident. The 45-year-old actor is currently in hospital and is not out of danger yet.
The now-deleted statement had claimed that the incident took place at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad after the day's shoot had wrapped up. It said Sharma was chatting with local technicians in an area surrounded by dense vegetation when he was allegedly bitten by an insect, possibly a bug or a poisonous spider.
According to the statement, the actor did not initially consider the bite serious and therefore did not seek immediate medical attention. It was only later that his condition reportedly worsened, leading to his hospitalisation.
However, the statement is no longer available on social media and looks like it has been deleted.
Film worker’s body demands probe
In a statement shared on X, AICWA urged Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to order a high-level probe into the incident. The film workers' body also demanded that the film's producer bear the actor's medical expenses and sought strict legal action if any negligence is found during the investigation.
In the statement, the workers’ body president, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, questioned whether adequate emergency protocols were in place on the film's set. It asked why Rajesh Sharma was not immediately shifted to a leading hospital in Hyderabad if his condition had become critical during the shoot.
AICWA also sought clarity on whether proper emergency medical facilities were available at the location, if mandatory health and workplace safety norms were followed, and what exactly unfolded on set that led to the actor's condition worsening so rapidly.
AICWA further said that if the inquiry reveals any negligence or violation of safety norms, strict legal action must be initiated against those found responsible. The association stressed that no individual or production house, irrespective of the film's scale or budget, should be above accountability.
It also urged the makers to take full responsibility for Rajesh Sharma's medical expenses and ensure that he receives the best possible treatment until he has fully recovered.
