Ritwik Pareek's Dug Dug gets OTT release after festival run
Prime Video has premiered Ritwik Pareek's satirical comedy Dug Dug after its festival run. The film turns a dead man's motorbike into a lens on faith, ritual and commerce.

Prime Video has announced the streaming premiere of Dug Dug, a satirical comedy written and directed by Ritwik Pareek. The film, which had an acclaimed festival run and drew critical appreciation during its release, is now available on Prime Video in India and in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
Produced under the Bottle Rocket Pictures banner by Prerna Pareek and Ritwik Pareek, the film is executive produced by Anurag Kashyap, Nikkhil Advani, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vasan Bala. Its cast is led by Altaf Khan, Gaurav Soni and Yogendra Singh, with Durga Lal Saini, Hemant Sharma, Jagdish Prasad Tak, Raju Gujjar and Priyanka Khandekar in supporting roles.
Set around an unlikely turn of events, Dug Dug follows Thakur, played by Altaf Khan, an alcoholic who dies while riding his motorbike on a highway one night. The next morning, his bike disappears from the police station and reappears at the exact spot where he died. After a series of strange incidents, local residents begin treating him as a god and start offering alcohol to his bike. As their prayers appear to be answered, a new commercialised religion begins to spread.
The film uses this premise to explore belief and blind faith through absurdist humour and social commentary. It has been described by critics as an inventive independent film that combines sharp commentary with strong technical execution, while avoiding mockery of its subjects and examining how faith can become commodified.
Announcing the film's streaming debut on 8 July 2026, Prime Video said Dug Dug will now reach audiences globally after its festival run. With its cast, production team and unusual premise, the film is being positioned as a satire centred on belief, ritual and commerce.
