At least seven people were injured after unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire at a Scorpio SUV outside the police station in Haryana's Charkhi Dadri on Thursday.

The attackers fled after the daylight shooting, which took place just a few steps away from the police station. All the injured were shifted to Rohtak PGI after receiving primary treatment at the Civil Hospital in Charkhi Dadri. Two of them are reported to be in critical condition.

According to the information available so far, the assailants targeted the Scorpio carrying seven men and fired multiple rounds at the vehicle. Initial reports said around 10 to 15 rounds were fired, while other reports stated the attackers used automatic magazine weapons and fired nearly 30 rounds. Police recovered around 20 to 25 empty cartridges from the spot.

A CCTV camera installed near the scene captured the attack. The footage shows three armed men running away after the shooting, with one of the suspects seen firing while fleeing. Police have seized the CCTV footage and launched efforts to identify and arrest the attackers.

After the incident, social media posts claimed that the Rohit Godara gang had taken responsibility for the attack. An audio clip, allegedly featuring a gangster identifying himself as Naveen Boxer, also surfaced online.

In the audio, the speaker claims he orchestrated the firing in Charkhi Dadri and says the attack targeted Anil Fatehgarhi. He further claims that two of Anil Fatehgarhi's associates were killed and says the gang is taking responsibility for the attack. The authenticity of the viral audio has not been officially confirmed.

The injured have been identified as Ankit from Manakawas, Kirtiman from Hisar, Krishna from Mahendragarh, Suraj from Manheru, Ankit from Bhiwani, Vijay alias Sunny from Hisar and Amit from Fatehgarh.

DSP Headquarters Dheeraj Kumar said the preliminary investigation suggests that some of the injured men were returning in the Scorpio after attending a court hearing in an old case when the attackers, who were allegedly waiting near the police station, opened fire on the vehicle.

Doctors at the Civil Hospital referred all seven injured to Rohtak PGI after providing primary treatment. However, the victims' families alleged that ambulances were not available on time, forcing them and the police to wait outside the hospital gate before the injured could be shifted. The delay triggered anger among family members and created chaos at the hospital premises.

Police suspect the incident could be linked to an ongoing rivalry between the Kasaniya and Baba gangs, although officials have not confirmed this angle. DSP Dheeraj Kumar said the exact motive behind the attack would become clear only after recording the statements of the injured.

Following the shooting, Superintendent of Police Logesh Kumar, DSP Dheeraj Kumar and other senior officers reached the spot. A forensic team collected evidence from the crime scene, while joint teams from the CIA unit, Cyber Cell, City Police Station and Sadar Police Station launched raids at suspected locations.

Police said they are analysing technical evidence and CCTV footage and expressed confidence that the accused would be arrested soon.
