Election Commission revises SIR timeline for Delhi, Punjab, Telangana, Karnataka
The Election Commission has extended the SIR schedule in Delhi, Punjab, Telangana and Karnataka. The delay adds to repeated timeline changes as Phase 3 heads towards a near nationwide rollout.

The Election Commission on Wednesday extended the schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Delhi, Punjab, Telangana and Karnataka, revising the dates for house-to-house verification and the publication of draft and final rolls in these places.
The poll authority had on Tuesday extended the SIR schedule for Haryana and Andhra Pradesh as well. Delhi and these five states are part of Phase 3 of the exercise, which was rolled out on May 14. Once Phase 3 is completed, the rollout will cover the entire country except Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
In a letter to Delhi's chief electoral officer, the Election Commission said the draft electoral rolls will now be published on August 17 instead of August 5. The house-to-house visits, which were scheduled to continue till July 29, will now go on till August 8.
In Punjab, house-to-house visits by booth level officers will continue till August 3, instead of ending on July 24. The draft electoral rolls will now be published on August 13 in place of July 31, while the final rolls will come out on October 12 instead of October 10.
In Telangana, the draft rolls will be published on August 10 and the final rolls on October 12. In Karnataka, house-to-house visits by booth level officers will continue till August 8 instead of July 29. Draft rolls in the state will now be published on August 17 instead of August 5, while the final electoral rolls, earlier due on October 7, will now be published on October 19.
The latest changes add to a series of revisions in the Special Intensive Revision schedule. The Election Commission said Phase 3 covers Delhi, Punjab, Telangana, Karnataka, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh, and the exercise in the previous phase has also seen frequent schedule changes due to a variety of reasons.
