UP man arrested for sexually assaulting toddler on moving roadways bus

A woman travelling with her daughters on a Roadways bus in Chitrakoot caught a man after he allegedly assaulted her three-year-old child. Police have arrested the accused, sent the girl for medical examination and said the case will be pursued swiftly.

A three-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted while travelling on a moving bus in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot district, police said. The accused was apprehended by the child's mother immediately after the incident and later handed over to the police, who have registered a case and arrested him.

According to reports, a woman from the Raipura area was traveling back home by a state transport (Roadways) bus after taking her two daughters to Prayagraj for medical treatment. As the bus passed through Mau town, a man identified as Rajkishore, a resident of Manikpur, sat on the seat next to the woman.

The mother reported that the accused initially engaged her in conversation before picking up her three-year-old daughter and placing her on his lap. Shortly after, the man began molesting the toddler. Terrified and in pain, the child began to cry uncontrollably, which immediately alerted the mother.

Upon realising what had transpired, the mother acted with immense courage. She snatched her daughter away from the accused and, despite the challenging environment of a moving bus, confronted the man and thrashed him for his repulsive behavior. The mother ensured the man could not escape and took him directly to the nearest police station. Based on her formal complaint, the police registered a case against Rajkishore and took him into custody.

'INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY'

Chitrakoot Superintendent of Police (SP) Arun Kumar Singh confirmed the incident, stating that the accused has been arrested based on the mother’s complaint. The victim has been sent for a medical examination.

"We have registered a case and the investigation is underway," the SP stated. "We will ensure that the charge sheet is filed in court at the earliest. We will pursue this case in a Fast Track Court to ensure that the accused receives the harshest possible punishment, sending a strong message to society."
