Brutality will not work anymore: Prakash Raj slams crackdown on Jharkhand students
Actor Prakash Raj condemned the use of tear gas and lathi charge against JPSC-JSSC aspirants marching towards the Jharkhand Assembly in Ranchi. The actor reacted strongly to the video of the crackdown as protests over exam irregularities intensified.
Actor Prakash Raj on Monday condemned the use of tear gas and lathi charge against JPSC-JSSC aspirants protesting near the Jharkhand Assembly in Ranchi.
Prakash Raj shared on X a video allegedly taken from the protest site, showing tear gas and lathi charge being used to disperse students.
He wrote, "Why .. Why .. Why. This brutality will not work anymore.. it will only bring the arrogant power down #justasking (sic)."
According to ANI, students marching towards the Jharkhand Assembly remained defiant after police resorted to a lathi charge for the third time on Monday evening to disperse protesters outside the premises. The demonstrators said they would continue their agitation over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and demanded a CBI probe.
Authorities used tear gas shells, water cannons and lathi charges as a large number of aspirants attempted to move towards the Assembly. The protest was organised by the JPSC-JSSC Reform Manch against examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission.
Demonstrators expressed anger over the police response and said they were determined to continue the protest.
Earlier, actor-lyricist Piyush Mishra visited the JPSC-JSSC student protest site in Ranchi and extended support to the aspirants. His visit came as the second week of agitation over alleged paper leaks continued.
Mishra also appreciated the peaceful nature of the demonstration. He commended the students for raising their concerns without abusive language. The aspirats also joined him as he sang his iconic track Aarambh Hai Prachand from director Anurag Kashyap's Gulaal (2009).
Apart from Mishra, actor Sonakshi Sinha backed protesting students in Jharkhand. Her support drew wider attention to their demands for an independent probe and recruitment reforms.
