Jana Nayagan box office Day 4: Vijay's film hits Rs 217 crore in opening weekend

Actor-politician Vijay's Jana Nayagan recorded a strong jump on its first Sunday and crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide in four days. The Tamil version led the film's earnings as overseas markets also held firm.

Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan continued its strong box office run over its opening weekend, recording a healthy jump in collections on its first Sunday. The film comfortably crossed the Rs 200-crore mark worldwide within just four days of release.

According to trade website Sacnilk, the action entertainer earned an estimated Rs 32 crore nett in India on Day 4, registering a 10.7 per cent increase over its Saturday collection of Rs 28.90 crore.

With this, Jana Nayagan has taken its total India nett collection to Rs 124.75 crore, while its India gross now stands at Rs 145.98 crore.

With its latest collections, Jana Nayagan has become only the second Tamil film of 2026 to cross the 100 crore mark at the domestic box office. Karuppu, starring Suriya, continues to lead the list with a lifetime India nett collection of Rs 198 crore, a milestone Jana Nayagan now appears well-placed to challenge.

The Vijay-starrer has also raced past the lifetime collections of several Tamil releases this year, including Parasakthi (Rs 53 crore) and Love Insurance Kompany (Rs 43 crore). In addition, it has overtaken the domestic lifetime earnings of action entertainers Dragon (Rs 102 crore) and Sikandar (Rs 104 crore).

The film also maintained a solid hold in overseas markets, adding an estimated Rs 10 crore gross on Sunday. This pushed its overseas total to Rs 71.50 crore, taking the film's worldwide gross collection to an impressive Rs 217.48 crore in just four days.

The Tamil version continued to dominate the film's earnings, contributing Rs 27.30 crore nett, while the Hindi version collected Rs 3.35 crore and the Telugu version added Rs 1.35 crore on Sunday.

Occupancy remained strong across Tamil Nadu, with the Tamil version recording an overall occupancy of 69.04 per cent. Afternoon shows registered 76.62 per cent occupancy, while evening shows peaked at 78.46 per cent. The Hindi version reported an overall occupancy of 21.33 per cent, while the Telugu version recorded 24.39 per cent occupancy.

Region-wise, Tamil Nadu emerged as the biggest contributor, generating Rs 22.50 crore gross on Day 4. Karnataka followed with Rs 4.75 crore, Kerala contributed Rs 2.85 crore, while Andhra Pradesh and Telangana added Rs 2.05 crore. The rest of India accounted for Rs 5.02 crore, taking the film's Day 4 India gross collection to Rs 37.17 crore.
