Suriya praises Radikaa Sarathkumar, recalls her financial help for Karthi's visa
At the Vishwanath and Sons audio launch in Coimbatore, actor Suriya recalled Radikaa Sarathkumar's generosity. He revealed that she financially helped Karthi secure his US student visa.
Actor Suriya opened up about his long-standing bond with actor-producer Radikaa Sarathkumar, recalling how she stood by his family during some of their most challenging years. Speaking at the audio launch of Vishwanath and Sons, held on August 2 in Coimbatore, the actor revealed that Radikaa not only acted in some of his films without accepting remuneration but also financially helped his brother, actor Karthi, when he was preparing to leave for the US for higher studies.
The actor recalled an incident from the time Karthi was planning to pursue higher studies in the US. According to Suriya, the family had to show a required bank balance to meet visa formalities at a time when they were facing financial constraints.
"When Karthi was to travel to the US, we had to show a particular bank account balance to meet certain visa requirements. We weren't financially strong at that time. Radikaa akka, who was working with my father during those years, gave us that money, asking us to hold the money in our bank until Karthi gets admitted into the college. Similarly, we have many memories and emotions that we share with her," he said.
Although Radikaa was not present at the event, Suriya said his family shares countless memories with her and credited her for supporting them both personally and professionally. The two actors will be seen sharing screen space as mother and son in director Venky Atluri's upcoming film.
"Radikaa akka is not here with us today at the event, but we have so many memories and experiences with her. In fact, if we go back in time, she acted in some of my films without remuneration. She needn't have done that, but she did it, which was great," Suriya said.
Suriya and Radikaa have shared screen space in Sandhippoma (1998), Uyirile Kalanthathu (2000) and Singam 3 (2017). Karthi, meanwhile, worked with her in Saguni (2012).
Vishwanath and Sons stars Suriya as Sanjay Vishwanath, an ace pistol shooter in his 40s struggling to retain his agility and focus. The story revolves around Maddy, played by Mamitha Baiju, a young woman who falls in love with him despite their age difference, setting the stage for a May-December romance.
