Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra 2 leak before launch, major chip and battery upgrades expected
Samsung is gearing to launch new wearable devices, aka Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 on July 22. Key specs of upcoming smartwatches have leaked online before launch.

Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event is less than two weeks away, and ahead of the July 22 reveal, the hardware specifications of the Galaxy Watch 9 series and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 have now surfaced online. The leak points to two meaningful upgrades under the hood, a new chipset and larger batteries, something that Samsung itself has been teasing ahead of D-Day.
Samsung says the Galaxy Watch 9 series and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will be AI-powered Health Companion devices with all-new internal components including a super long-lasting battery and brand-new processor with enhanced efficiency. Ahead of launch, WinFuture has published what it claims are the official technical specifications for the upcoming smartwatches.
A big chipset switch
The most significant change is on the processor front. Samsung is moving away from its in-house Exynos chips and switching to the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite, specifically the SW6100, according to the leak. The chip is built on a 3nm process and features five computing cores, including a strong core running at 2.1GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at up to 1.95GHz. The move to Qualcomm should bring improvements in both performance and power efficiency. Depending on the model, the chip will be paired with 2GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.
On the connectivity side, all models are said to support Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and dual-band Wi-Fi, with LTE available on select variants. The watches will reportedly run Wear OS with Samsung's new One UI Watch 9.0.
Bigger batteries
Battery capacity tells a mixed story across the lineup. The Galaxy Watch 9 in the 40mm size will reportedly keep the same 325mAh battery as its predecessor, so no change there. The 44mm variant is set to get a modest bump to 445mAh, up slightly from 435mAh on the Galaxy Watch 8.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is where the real upgrade is reportedly set to happen. Samsung is said to be increasing the battery capacity from 590mAh on the original Watch Ultra to 800mAh on the Ultra 2, a jump that should translate into noticeably longer battery life. The Ultra 2 is also said to retain its titanium case and carry a water resistance rating of up to 100 metres, while the standard Watch 9 models will reportedly use aluminium cases and bag the 5 ATM rating.
As for pricing, the Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to start at 409 euros (around Rs 45,066) for the base model, with the larger variant reportedly coming at 439 euros (roughly Rs 48,358). The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is tipped to come in at 749 euros (roughly Rs 82,507). Samsung is expected to officially confirm everything at Unpacked on July 22.
