JSW MG Motor India's electric crossover, the Windsor EV, has crossed the 75,000 sales milestone in less than two years since its launch, reinforcing its position as the company's best-selling model in the country. The automaker also said the Windsor sold more than 19,000 units sold between January and June.

The Windsor, which made its market debut in September 2024, has played a pivotal role in expanding MG's electric vehicle footprint in India. According to the company, strong demand for the model also contributed to a 13 per cent year-on-year growth in its overall sales during H1 CY2026.

Affordable ownership has been a key differentiator

One of the biggest factors behind the Windsor's popularity has been MG's Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme, which lowers the upfront purchase cost by separating battery ownership from the vehicle price. Under this model, the Windsor is available at an introductory price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while customers pay a battery usage charge of Rs 3.9 per kilometre.

For buyers who prefer complete ownership, the Windsor is also available with the battery included, with prices ranging from Rs 14.70 lakh to Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant. MG also sells the Windsor Commute, a fleet-focused version priced at Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Two battery options on offer

The MG Windsor EV is powered by a single electric motor producing 136bhp and 200Nm of peak torque. Customers can choose between two battery configurations. The standard model is equipped with a 38kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed driving range of 332km, while the Windsor Pro features a larger 52.9kWh battery offering a claimed range of up to 449km on a single charge.

Designed with family buyers in mind

Rather than positioning the Windsor as a conventional mid-size EV, MG has focused on practicality and cabin comfort. The electric crossover features a spacious interior with a flat-floor layout, a large glass area and the brand's 'Aero Lounge' rear seats, which can recline up to 135 degrees.

The dashboard is dominated by a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system that controls most vehicle functions, while the extensive feature list and premium cabin materials have helped the Windsor appeal to families looking for a spacious electric vehicle.
