Food taste sparks fight, 2 juveniles stab Delhi hotel worker with knife

A complaint over the taste of food at a hotel in Delhi allegedly escalated into a stabbing, with police apprehending two juveniles aged 14 and 15 in connection with the attack on a 25-year-old worker. The incident took place on August 21, and the injured man is undergoing treatment, police said.

Police said the two customers allegedly argued with staff at the hotel after objecting to the taste of the food. The argument then turned violent, and the worker was allegedly attacked with a sharp knife-like object before the two fled.

According to the complaint lodged by hotel owner Siraj, the incident took place at a hotel in Kabutar Market in northeast Delhi's Welcome area. The injured worker, Ehasan, was taken to JPC Hospital by his neighbour. Police said they received information from the hospital at around 9.07 pm, after which a team reached there.

Ehasan was later referred to RML Hospital for further treatment. A forensic team inspected the crime scene and collected evidence as part of the investigation. An FIR was subsequently registered at Welcome police station under sections 109(1) for attempt to murder and 3(5) for common intention of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police said a team was formed to identify and trace those involved, and available leads were examined during the search. The two suspects were later traced and apprehended, and during verification both were found to be juveniles. During questioning, they admitted their involvement in the incident, police said.

The weapon allegedly used in the attack, a vegetable-cutting knife, was also recovered from them. Police said further proceedings are under way in the case, which began with a dispute over food and ended in a stabbing.
