Delhi University SFI holds Campus Justice March, demands safer spaces for women

Students affiliated with the Students' Federation of India (SFI) held a "Campus Justice March" at Delhi University's North Campus on Saturday, raising concerns over women's safety and demanding measures to ensure a secure environment for them.

The protesters raised slogans questioning the safety of women and alleged that incidents of sexual violence "continue to occur" despite repeated public debates and assurances on women's security.

The protesters questioned the continued concerns surrounding women's safety and called for greater accountability from authorities and institutions. They demanded measures that would allow women students to access campuses and public spaces without restrictions arising from safety concerns.

PROTESTERS DEMAND STRONGER ACTION ON WOMEN'S SAFETY

Carrying placards with messages including "Why are women still not safe in India?" and "Nirbhayas are still happening in India", the protesters sought greater accountability from authorities and stronger measures to prevent violence against women.

The march also raised questions over how long women would have to live in fear, with protesters calling for safer campuses and public spaces.

SFI CALLS FOR SUSTAINED INSTITUTIONAL ACTION

SFI members said ensuring women's safety required sustained institutional action and accountability, rather than being limited to responses after incidents of violence.

The protesters emphasised the need for measures that could help create a safer environment for women on campuses and in public spaces.
