The second day of the three-day Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UP TET) was conducted amid tight security across examination centres on Friday, with authorities enforcing multi-layered checks to ensure a fair and transparent examination process. UP TET 2026 is being held between July 2 and July 4.

Across Uttar Pradesh, nearly 19.5 lakh candidates are appearing for the state-level teacher eligibility examination, which is being held at centres spread across the state. In Chandauli alone, around 25,000 candidates are expected to take the examination over the three-day schedule at 12 designated centres.

THREE-TIER SECURITY SCREENING, FRISKING, MULTIPLE CHECKPOINTS

At the Railway Inter College examination centre in Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Nagar, candidates underwent three-tier security screening before being allowed inside. The process included frisking with metal detectors, verification of documents and biometric authentication, with police personnel and security officials deployed at multiple checkpoints to regulate entry.

Candidates said the elaborate security arrangements gave them confidence that the examination would be conducted fairly. Many, however, admitted they remained concerned about recent paper leak incidents in competitive examinations, saying such episodes undermine the efforts of genuine aspirants.

"We have prepared well and hope the examination is conducted honestly. Paper leaks affect students who work hard for months," one candidate said after completing the security checks.

PARTICIPATION FROM SERVING TEACHERS

The examination also witnessed the participation of serving teachers who are reappearing for the TET following judicial directions requiring certain teachers who had not qualified the eligibility test to clear it. Several of them said balancing classroom responsibilities with exam preparation had been challenging.

"It is difficult to study while teaching, but we have prepared as much as possible. We hope to clear the examination," a serving teacher said.

District authorities maintained that extensive security measures, including biometric verification and close monitoring of examination centres, had been put in place to prevent malpractice and ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
