Taylor Swift may have married Travis Kelce, but it was Swifties who turned the wedding into an internet-wide celebration. Within minutes of the couple saying "I do" at Madison Square Garden in New York on July 3, social media transformed into a giant virtual reception, with fans laughing, crying and declaring that "our Roman Empire is finally married."

Long before AI-generated wedding photographs surfaced, one detail had already stolen the spotlight. At around 7.30 pm on Friday, the giant digital billboard outside Madison Square Garden lit up with the message, "JusT&T Married" – a clever nod to the couple's initials.

Fans gathered outside the venue watched the reveal unfold in real time, while X erupted with posts celebrating the announcement.

The understated reveal struck a chord with fans. "This is the most Taylor Swift way to announce her marriage. I love her (sic)," one user wrote. Another added, "The fact that they were actually the first ones to tell us through this billboard. Not the press, not guests. It was THEM who broke the news (sic)."

Others found meaning in the timing of the celebrations. "Just two minutes after Taylor Swift announced she was officially married to Travis Kelce, rain began pouring down. According to tradition, rain on your wedding day is considered a symbol of good luck and a long-lasting marriage (sic)," one post read.

Another fan wrote, "I am actually emotional about this. She said, actually yes, you are coming to the wedding. You do get to know the moment it happened (sic)."

Take a look at some more reactions here:

The wedding itself was every bit as glamorous as fans had imagined. Swift and Kelce wore custom Christian Dior Haute Couture designed by Jonathan Anderson.

The guest list featured a who's who of music, film and sport, including Dakota Johnson, Ellie Goulding, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Ed Sheeran, the Haim sisters, Maren Morris, Zoe Kravitz, Hugh Grant, Tommy Hilfiger and Jimmy Fallon. Selena Gomez also gave fans a peek into the celebrations by sharing a selfie from her car en route to the festivities.

Even as fans wait for official wedding portraits, the celebrations have already found a life of their own online.

Between the glowing billboard, the designer looks and thousands of heartfelt posts, Swift and Kelce's wedding quickly became less of a celebrity event and more of a shared moment for millions of fans who had followed their love story from the very beginning.
