UP man beaten to death with brick; body found in car boot, cousins suspected
A 25-year-old man was allegedly killed and his body left in a Swift car boot in Kaushambi. Police suspect his maternal cousins after an earlier dispute and are searching for them.
A 25-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death with a brick in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi district, with his body later found inside the boot of a Swift car parked in a village. Police suspect the victim's maternal cousins, who have been missing since the incident.
The deceased was identified as Ravi Yadav, a resident of Prayagraj.
According to police, Ravi had been staying at his maternal uncle's house in Dhoomanganj, Prayagraj, along with his cousins. He had reportedly had a dispute with them a few days ago.
Police suspect that the dispute may have led to the murder.
Ravi was attacked on the head with a brick on Saturday night, resulting in his death. His body was then placed inside the boot of a Swift car, which was later left in Mohammadpur.
On Sunday morning, villagers noticed the car parked in suspicious circumstances and informed the police.
When police opened the boot, they found Ravi's body inside. His body was sent for post-mortem examination.
ALCOHOL CANS FOUND NEAR CAR
Police also found alcohol cans and bottles lying outside the car. This has led to a suspicion that the accused may have been drinking inside the car before the alleged murder.
However, police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing and have not yet confirmed the sequence of events.
SP Satyanarayan Prajapati, Additional SP Amita Singh, the Circle Officer and a forensic team inspected the spot after the body was found.
VICTIM'S MATERNAL COUSINS SUSPECTED
Police said the mobile phones of Ravi's maternal cousins have been switched off since the incident and they are currently absconding.
Based on the circumstances and the earlier dispute, police suspect their involvement in the murder. Teams have been formed to trace them and make arrests.
SP Satyanarayan Prajapati said the investigation was underway and that the accused were expected to be arrested soon.
Additional SP Amita Singh said police received information through Dial 112 at around 9.30 am on Sunday about a body being found inside a car in Mohammadpur. A police team immediately reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
Police are now investigating the circumstances that led to Ravi's death and are searching for the suspects.
