Two Dehradun men were injured after their car skidded off the rain-slick Dhoodhli route in Mussoorie and got stuck on a tree. The accident has renewed local concerns over missing safety railings and monsoon road risks.
Two men from Dehradun were injured after their car skidded off a slippery road and became stuck on a tree along the Dhoodhli route in Mussoorie late Sunday night.
The car, which had a Delhi registration number, went out of control amid slippery conditions caused by rain and moved off the road. Instead of falling into a ditch, the vehicle came to a stop after getting caught in a tree.
MEN FOUND INJURED THE NEXT MORNING
According to residents of Dhoodhli village, the two men had reached the route after losing their way. The road was slippery because of rainfall, causing the car to skid and leave the roadway.
The two men reportedly remained at the accident site through the night before local residents noticed the vehicle and informed the police the following morning.
Mussoorie police reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and rescued the injured men.
The two were taken to the Sub-Divisional Hospital by a 108 ambulance, where they are undergoing treatment. Police said an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.
The identities and current medical condition of the two injured men were not immediately available.
RESIDENTS RAISE ROAD SAFETY CONCERNS
Local residents said the Dhoodhli route has steep sections and lacks safety railings at several points.
They said the risk of accidents increases during the monsoon because rain makes the road surface slippery, particularly on steep stretches.
Residents have urged the authorities to install safety railings at vulnerable locations and improve the condition of the road to reduce the risk of vehicles leaving the roadway.
The latest accident has once again highlighted concerns over safety infrastructure along the route, particularly during the rainy season.
Police are examining the circumstances that led to the vehicle losing control and will determine the exact cause of the accident as part of their investigation.
