Surat-Udaipur Vande Bharat approved, Gujarat gets sixth premium train
The Railway Board has approved a six-day Vande Bharat Express service between Surat and Udaipur. The move gives Surat its first Vande Bharat and replaces the existing Udaipur-Asarwa service.
The diamond and textile city of Surat has finally received its first Vande Bharat Express train. The Ministry of Railways has officially approved a six-day weekly service between Surat and the "Lake City" of Udaipur. This will directly benefit travellers travelling to Rajasthan from Central and South Gujarat. This railway announcement marks the arrival of Gujarat's sixth premium train.
EIGHT-COACH VANDE BHARAT TO RUN SIX DAYS A WEEK
According to the Railway Board's order, this train will operate with eight coaches. This train is expected to begin before the upcoming Navratri festival, generating considerable excitement among travellers and tourists in Surat and South Gujarat.
The train will run six days a week between Surat and Udaipur, with a break on Tuesdays. It will depart Surat at 6:10 AM and arrive in Udaipur at 1:40 PM, while departing Udaipur at 3:35 PM and arriving in Surat at 11 PM.
This means the journey from Surat to Udaipur will now take just 7 hours and 30 minutes.
SURAT TO HAVE PRIMARY MAINTENANCE FACILITY
The train's primary maintenance facility has been established in Surat, while water refills will be available at Vadodara and Ahmedabad's Asarwa stations.
The train's launch will make travel faster and more comfortable for businessmen, tourists, and travellers travelling to Rajasthan.
EXISTING UDAIPUR-ASARWA VANDE BHARAT TO BE DISCONTINUED
The Ministry of Railways has also made a significant change with the approval of the new train.
Under the new arrangement, the previously operating train number 26963/26964 Udaipur City-Asarwa (Ahmedabad) Vande Bharat Express train has been permanently discontinued.
This service was launched in February this year. Due to the Railway Board's upgrade of this route to Surat, the Asarwa-bound train will now run between Surat and Udaipur.
C R PATIL WELCOMES NEW TRAIN
Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil said in a social media post that the Railway Board has approved the operation of the new Vande Bharat Express between Surat and Udaipur.
This modern train, which runs six days a week, will soon begin serving passengers.

This new rail service will not only make travel between Gujarat and Rajasthan faster, safer and more convenient but will also give a new impetus to tourism, trade and social relations.
GUJARAT GETS SIXTH PREMIUM TRAIN
With this announcement, Gujarat has received its sixth premium train, while Surat will get its first Vande Bharat Express service.
The new service is expected to benefit travellers from Central and South Gujarat heading to Rajasthan, particularly tourists, businessmen and other passengers.
C.R. Patil expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the new rail service.
He said the new Vande Bharat Express was an important gift for Surat and the entire South Gujarat region.
