The trailer of Last Man in Tower is out, offering a glimpse into a tense battle over a Mumbai housing society, where money, morality and personal principles collide. Starring Manoj Bajpayee in the lead, the film is based on Aravind Adiga’s bestselling novel of the same name and is set to release on September 11.
The film follows the residents of Vishram Society, a peaceful housing complex in Mumbai that becomes the target of developers looking to acquire the property. While the residents are presented with an attractive financial offer, MasterJi, played by Manoj Bajpayee, refuses to give in.
The trailer establishes the stakes early, with the possibility of a single flat owner refusing the deal becoming a hurdle for the developers. As the pressure mounts, MasterJi finds himself increasingly isolated from his neighbours, many of whom are willing to sell their homes for a better future.
At the heart of the story is a question about what a home is really worth — a lifetime of memories or the highest price someone is willing to pay. MasterJi's decision to stand his ground soon turns into a larger fight over greed, integrity and the price of doing what one believes is right.
The trailer also hints at the pressure MasterJi faces from his own family. His son questions his decision to keep fighting, arguing that human greed has to be understood. MasterJi, however, remains determined to hold on to his principles.
Manoj Bajpayee leads strong ensemble cast
Alongside Manoj Bajpayee, Last Man in Tower features Divya Dutta, Boman Irani, Sukant Goel, Harish Khanna, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Ujjwal Chopra, Swaroopa Ghosh, Uday Chandra, Madhuri Bhatia, Srikant Yadav, Salim Siddiqui and Tanisha Mehta.
The film is directed by Ben Rekhi, with Sooni Taraporevala adapting Aravind Adiga's novel for the screen and writing the screenplay. It is produced by Rana Daggubati, Ben Rekhi, Guneet Dogra and Pratiksha Rao.
Based on Adiga's bestselling novel, Last Man in Tower explores ambition, morality, friendship and the lengths ordinary people can go to when their dreams come with a price.
Last Man in Tower releases in theatres on September 11.
