Daayra vs Vibe: Kareena reacts to clash with brother-in-law Kunal's film

Actor Kareena Kapoor is confident that the September 18 box-office clash between her upcoming thriller Daayra and Kunal Kemmu’s directorial Vibe will be a win-win for both films. While Daayra, directed by Meghna Gulzar and starring Kareena and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is a gritty thriller inspired by true events, Vibe is an action-comedy helmed by Kemmu and starring him alongside Preity G Zinta and Sparsh Shrivastava.

Speaking about the clash at Daayra’s trailer launch, the 45-year-old actor had nothing but praise for her brother-in-law Kunal and his comic abilities.

“I think Kunal is an outstanding actor. One of the best we have in our industry. No one does comic timing like Kunal,” she said.

Kareena also dismissed the idea that the two films could cannibalise each other at the box office. “I feel it’s a good film; there’s place for two films, two great cinemas and wonderful films. And I know that film is gonna do well,” Kareena said, referring to Vibe.

She further predicted that audiences would get to see a different side of Kunal in the film. “It’s going to be fun, comedy, and people are going to see a different side of Kunal,” she added.

And when it comes to the clash, Kareena is clearly rooting for both sides. “May the gold... I know mere ghar par hi ayega (It's going to come to my home). I am happy ki agar dono picture chalegi (If both films work) toh my brother-in-law and I, so why not? I am very sure that both films are going to do well,” she concluded.

With Daayra and Vibe arriving in theatres on the same day, September 18 is set to bring two very different cinematic experiences to audiences. While Kareena and Prithviraj headline Meghna Gulzar’s intense crime thriller, Kunal’s Vibe, starring Preity Zinta, Sparsh Srivastava and more, promises comedy, action and a lighter entertainer.

In Daayra, Kareena plays DCP Ajooni Kohli, while Prithviraj plays DCP Raman Kumar. The film is produced by Junglee Pictures and Dr Jayantilal Gada's Pen Studios. It will be distributed by Pen Marudhar and released in cinemas on September 18.
