Shreyas Iyer backs Ravi Bishnoi after costly meltdown in Manchester T20I
ENG vs IND, 2nd T20I: Ravi Bishnoi had an off day after he leaked 29 runs in the 17th over India lost to England by four wickets on Sunday in Manchester to go 0-1 down in the series.

Shreyas Iyer backed Ravi Bishnoi to bounce back after India suffered a four-wicket defeat in the second T20I on Saturday, falling 0-1 behind in the five-match series. Bishnoi endured a forgettable outing, conceding 60 runs in his three overs as India went down at Old Trafford in Manchester.
The 17th over proved to be a nightmare for Bishnoi, with Shreyas admitting it was the turning point of the match. With England needing 49 runs from 24 balls and the contest evenly poised, Bishnoi conceded 29 runs as Jacob Bethell took him apart.

Bishnoi also recorded the third-most expensive over bowled by an Indian in men's T20Is, behind Shivam Dube's 34-run over against New Zealand in 2020 and Stuart Binny's 32-run over against the West Indies in 2016. To make matters worse, Bishnoi also struggled with his discipline, bowling three no-balls during his spell.
“I think one, I was like, okay, he's going to come back strong after that. But again, in the 17th over, back to back, I think it haunted us a bit. But yeah, definitely he's got to learn out of that,” Shreyas said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
SHREYAS IMPRESSED WITH SOORYAVANSHI
While Bishnoi endured an off day, Shreyas was full of praise for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who became the youngest Indian to make his international debut, surpassing the record previously held by Shafali Verma since 2019.
The teenage opener scored 14 off nine balls, smashing two sixes before being dismissed. He announced himself in style by launching Jofra Archer for a six and followed it up by clearing the ropes against Josh Tongue, before Will Jacks eventually brought his promising cameo to an end.
“I feel he's got that unflinching attitude where he's fearless, and the way he approaches his game, it's just sensational to watch him. And the way he bats in the nets, I think something to learn out of him, the way he plays his fearless cricket,” Shreyas said.
“So, I wasn't anticipating him to be nervous, honestly speaking, because he's played sensational cricket for the last couple of months and years. And we all know what he's got to offer as an individual. So, definitely backed him, and the way he stepped up to this occasion, it was pleasing to see,” Shreyas added.
India will look to level the series when they face England in the third T20I at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Tuesday, July 7.
