Satluj
Satluj is a Hindi drama directed by Honey Trehan, headlined by Diljit Dosanjh. The film was earlier titled Punjab '95 and takes inspiration from the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who was known for exposing alleged illegal killings and secret cremations during the years of militancy in Punjab.
Satluj had a long and difficult journey to the screen. The film spent close to three years caught up in a certification dispute with the Central Board of Film Certification, which reportedly asked for as many as 127 cuts before it could be cleared for release. The makers held their ground through the delay, and the film eventually arrived without a single cut, under its new title.
Apart from Diljit, the film also features Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder Vicky, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan and Varun Badola in key roles.
It finally premiered on Zee5, though its stay on the platform in India was brief. The streamer took the film down "until further notice" shortly after release, a move that prompted Diljit Dosanjh to speak out on social media. Zee5, for its part, said it stood by the film and its makers, and was looking into legal options to bring it back for Indian audiences.
