Class 7 boy critical after suicide bid, parents allege assault by teacher
A Class 7 student is in critical condition after he tried to hang himself following alleged harassment and beating by teachers at a private school in Bengaluru.

A Class 7 student is battling for his life after attempting suicide following repeated harassment and physical assault by his teachers, his parents have alleged.
The boy, a student at a private school in Mariyappanapalya, allegedly tried to hang himself at his home on Tuesday. Family members found him in time and rushed him to Natus Hospital in Nayandahalli, where he remains in critical condition.
His parents, who run a grocery store, alleged that teachers had repeatedly beaten the child, leaving him with bruises and causing severe mental distress. They have demanded strict action against the teachers and the school administration.
Police have launched a preliminary inquiry into the matter. An officer told news agency PTI that the boy had been scolded by his teacher over some alleged mischief involving another student and was told to leave the classroom.
A probe is underway to determine whether the alleged harassment at the school drove the boy to attempt suicide.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West) said no formal complaint had been received from the family so far, as the child's condition remains critical.
"At this stage, we have not found anything conclusive on teachers' harassment,” the senior cop said. “However, we have received an MLC report regarding the alleged suicide attempt."
The officer said an inspector had been sent to the school to gather information and that police had already begun a preliminary inquiry based on the available inputs.
"As of now, the parents have not lodged any complaint because the child's condition is serious," the DCP said.
Police said further legal action would depend on the family's complaint and the findings of the inquiry.
