CBSE, NCERT train teachers on new Class 9 maths and science textbooks
CBSE and NCERT have started preparing teachers for the rollout of new Class 9 Mathematics and Science textbooks. The orientation workshop focused on competency-based learning, practical applications and new teaching methods aligned with the National Education Policy.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in collaboration with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), organised an orientation workshop for teachers on the newly introduced Class 9 Mathematics and Science textbooks.
The workshop was held at the CBSE Integrated Office Complex in Dwarka, New Delhi, to familiarise teachers with the structure, approach and classroom implementation of the revised textbooks.
A total of 110 teachers from CBSE-affiliated schools participated in the workshop. The group included 58 Mathematics teachers and 52 Science teachers, along with representatives from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS).
WHAT TEACHERS LEARNT IN THE WORKSHOP
The sessions were conducted by experts from NCERT, who explained the vision behind the new textbooks and how teachers can effectively use them in classrooms.
The discussions focused on:
Competency-based teaching methods to help students apply concepts rather than rely only on memorisation.
Experiential learning techniques to connect textbook concepts with real-life situations.
Problem-solving strategies to improve analytical skills among students.
Holistic assessment methods in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.
The sessions were led by NCERT experts including Professor Anup Rajput, Professor K Vijayan, Dr Rishikesh Kumar, Professor R R Koireng, Professor R K Parashar, Dr Ashish Kumar Srivastava and Dr Arun Pratap Sikarwar.
MASTER TRAINERS TO TAKE THE CURRICULUM AHEAD
According to CBSE, the workshop was aimed at strengthening teachers’ preparedness as Master Trainers, who will support the implementation of the revised curriculum across affiliated schools.
The board said the training will help teachers understand the educational philosophy behind the new textbooks and adopt classroom practices that encourage critical thinking, application-based learning and deeper understanding of concepts.
The initiative is part of CBSE and NCERT’s efforts to ensure smoother implementation of curriculum changes introduced under NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023.
