Actor Genelia Deshmukh extended support to television star Ram Kapoor after he revealed on Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa that he was molested when he was 13. On Sunday, the 38-year-old shared a picture of her television screen from the latest episode. The frame showed Ram in an emotional hug with her host, actor-husband Riteish Deshmukh.

Ram made the disclosure during the show’s secret-reveal task and said that, until now, only his wife Gautami Kapoor knew about the incident. The 50-year-old's account left the house emotional, with contestants and the hosts reacting to the deeply personal moment.

In her Instagram post, she wrote, "@iamramkapoor you have made me cry, and you made me see such a beautiful perspective to the world we live in. #lockup2 well done in a big a reality show with a difference @netflix_in @ektarkapoor @farahkhankunder @riteshd (sic)."

What Ram Kapoor said

Speaking about the incident, Ram said he was in Class 8 and 13 years old when it happened at his boarding school. He recalled that after school, students would sit in their dormitories and talk. A Class 10 student was sitting with him on his bed when he suddenly touched him under the blanket. Ram said there were around 30 to 40 children around them at the time, and he froze.

Ram said he did not know how to respond in that moment. "I didn’t know whether I should do something, stay quiet, keep tolerating it, or scream. After quite some time, I told him I wasn’t comfortable. He stopped immediately and left. After that, I changed a lot. I became very quiet and was deeply traumatised," he said.

He also said the same person later apologised to him and tried to help him recover. "It’s strange, but the person who caused my trauma also helped me heal. We eventually became good friends. A few weeks later, he apologised, and whenever he got the chance, he made sure I knew he was genuinely sorry. This is a secret that even my children and my parents don’t know. Only Gautami knows about it," he said.

Ram added that the incident changed the way he looked at people and taught him not to judge others. He said speaking about it still brings back painful memories, but he no longer carries fear or resentment towards the person involved.

Reactions on the show

The revelation left the house visibly shaken. Contestant Sufi Motiwala broke down and said that he too had been molested, while Harshad Chopda and Dheeraj Dhoopar were also seen in tears. Host Farah Khan hugged Ram and told him, "I am sorry this happened to you," while Riteish Deshmukh said, "You are very strong. Today, I have learnt something from you, and I am proud of you."

The show, which has completed two weeks and is streaming on Netflix, also saw a double elimination this week. Sunita Ahuja left due to health issues, while Riyaz was evicted after receiving fewer audience votes. Shreya Kalra survived the round.
