Akanksha Chamola recently opened up about her evolving sexuality on Lock Upp.

Lock Upp contestant Akanksha Chamola, who earlier identified herself as bisexual before marrying actor Gaurav Khanna, has now revealed that she identifies as asexual. During the latest episode of the reality show, the actor said her ongoing divorce has changed how she feels about intimacy and that sexuality can evolve with different phases of life.

In the latest episode of Lock Upp, Akanksha was seen discussing relationships with fellow contestant Varun Yadav inside the jail. When asked whether she would consider getting married again, the actor ruled out the possibility.

"Mere ko darr baith gaya hain (A deep fear has set in)," she said.

Varun then asked her about her sexuality, to which Akanksha explained that she believes it can change depending on different phases of life.

“Sexuality keeps changing. Aap ke phases ke upar hota hain ki mera abhi divorce ho raha hain mujhe abhi kisi se sex nahi chahiye. Ladkiyo ke saath bhi nahi chahiye, admiyo ke saath bhi nahi chahiye. Mera alag phase chal raha hain isey kehte hain asexual (It depends upon your life phase. I am now going through a divorce and I don't want sex now, neither from men nor from women. This is called asexuality).”

Earlier on the show, Akanksha had spoken about the reasons behind her separation from Gaurav Khanna. She said she never wanted to become a mother and believed most people marry with the hope of having children and carrying forward their family.

According to her, Gaurav's desire to have kids was completely valid, but she realised after her stint on Bigg Boss that she could not fulfil that wish. She added that she did not want to keep him in a situation where their expectations from marriage were so different.

Akanksha had also revealed that she is bisexual, saying she has always been attracted to women and finds comfort in feminine energy. She explained that women have always felt like her safe space, a feeling she associated with growing up in what she described as a male-dominated world.

She said she admired women, enjoyed being around them and never believed in the idea that women could not be friends because of jealousy or competition. For her, she said, all women are beautiful, and the label society attaches to such feelings is different from the pure love and comfort she experiences.

Akanksha first announced at the premiere of Lock Upp 2 that she and actor Gaurav Khanna were heading for divorce after being married for nearly a decade.

Known for shows such as Santoshi Maa, Yeh Hai Aashiqui and Crime Patrol, Akanksha married Gaurav in November 2016 after the two met and fell in love during an audition. Their wedding took place in Gaurav's hometown of Kanpur as part of a three-day celebration.
