Caught on CCTV: 3 hurt as storm sends tin roof hurtling through street near Nashik
Three people were hurt after strong winds ripped a tin roof off a house and sent it crashing into their group in Maharashtra. CCTV installed at a nearby house captured the terrifying moment as the group scrambled for safety amid the storm.
Three devotees were injured, one of them critically, after a portion of a tin roof was ripped off by strong winds and crashed onto a road in Maharashtra on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred on the Trimbakeshwar town’s main road, where a group of eight devotees was making its way through heavy rain. Battling the gusty weather, they walked cautiously, unaware that a section of the tin roof of a nearby house had been torn loose by the strong winds.
Moments later, the sheet of metal came flying through the air and crashed into the middle of the group. A CCTV camera installed outside a nearby house captured the entire incident.
The footage shows the devotees, dressed in colourful raincoats, moving slowly along the road as the storm rages around them. Within seconds, the tin sheet is seen hurtling towards them, sending the group scrambling in different directions.
While several devotees manage to leap out of its path, others are knocked to the ground by the impact. As the debris comes to rest, those who escaped unhurt immediately rush back to help the injured, lifting them from the road and moving them to safety.
One of the injured, Amit Subhash Adhe, a resident of Yavatmal, sustained critical injuries.
Local residents rushed him to the Trimbakeshwar Sub-District Hospital on a two-wheeler, where doctors administered first aid before referring him to the Nashik District Hospital for specialised treatment after his condition was stabilised.
The condition of the two other injured devotees was not immediately known. The incident comes as parts of Nashik continue to witness heavy rain and gusty winds.
