At 25, Zaid Khan is already where many young professionals hope to be years into their careers. A student at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore, Khan has built a business worth an estimated Rs 5 crore while pursuing his MBA.

The founder of Zedital Media recently appeared on The Crore Club podcast, where he spoke about his entrepreneurial journey, building a business from scratch, and the lessons he believes every aspiring entrepreneur should learn early.

CONTENT IS DIGITAL CURRENCY

During the conversation, host Shreya Hegde pointed out that while many of Khan's classmates at IIM Bangalore are preparing for jobs offering annual packages of Rs 25-40 lakh, he already runs a successful company. She asked what advice he would give students hoping to start their own ventures.

Khan stressed that entrepreneurship begins with confidence and action.

"I think the first thing is to start selling something—whether it's a skill, a piece of advice, or any service—even if it's just for Rs 100 or Rs 200. It helps build confidence," he said.

His second piece of advice was to establish a strong online presence.

"Content is the digital currency. Build your online presence because that's what creates opportunities," he added.

HOW HE STARTED

Reflecting on his journey, Khan said he grew up in a middle-class family where conventional career paths were strongly encouraged.

"Everyone told me to become a doctor. The second option was engineering," he recalled.

Like many students, he faced pressure to prepare for the NEET medical entrance examination during Class 12. Instead, he decided to chart a different path. Khan began working with YouTube creators and gradually took up freelance projects. A turning point came when he landed a freelancing assignment with a California-based influencer, earning Rs 1.24 lakh—his biggest payment at the time.

The experience convinced him that he could build a career outside traditional professions.

He later pursued a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Journalism at Graphic Era Hill University between 2019 and 2022. According to his LinkedIn profile, he joined IIM Bangalore's Business Administration programme in September 2024.

According to Zedital Media's website, Khan has received several recognitions, including Youngest Entrepreneur of Uttarakhand, Innovative Entrepreneur 2024, and Trailblazer in Digital Marketing Solutions.

Today, while balancing academics at one of India's top business schools, Khan continues to grow his branding and media company, encouraging young entrepreneurs to start small, build confidence, and invest in creating a digital identity.

ABOUT ORGANISATION

Khan said that Zedital Media Private Limited primarily operates in the branding and media advertising space.

According to him, the company offers services such as Online Reputation Management (ORM), Content Distribution Management (CDM), and LinkedIn Profile Amplification Management (PAM), helping individuals and brands strengthen their digital presence.

Khan's journey offers several lessons for students looking to build a career beyond conventional job paths. He believes confidence comes from taking the first step, whether it's selling a skill, offering a service, or freelancing for a small fee.

He also stresses the importance of building a strong digital presence, saying that content has become a valuable currency in today's world. His story shows that starting early, learning through real-world experience, and consistently building an online brand can open doors long before graduation.
