Dhamaal 4 box office Day 2: Comedy crosses Rs 50 crore globally after Saturday jump
Ajay Devgn's Dhamaal 4 posed a sharp first-Saturday jump, taking its worldwide gross past Rs 50 crore in two days. The comedy held steady despite multiple releases and strengthened its opening weekend run.
Ajay Devgn's Dhamaal 4 witnessed a strong jump at the box office on its first Saturday, helping the comedy entertainer cross the Rs 50-crore mark worldwide within just two days of its release.
According to early estimates by trade website Sacnilk, the Indra Kumar directorial collected Rs 22.50 crore nett in India on Day 2, registering a 60.7 per cent jump over its opening-day collection of Rs 14 crore.
With this, the film's total India net collection has climbed to Rs 36.50 crore, while its India gross stands at Rs 43.80 crore after two days in theatres.
The film also continued its steady run overseas, earning an estimated Rs 5 crore gross on Saturday. Its total overseas gross now stands at Rs 10 crore, taking its worldwide gross collection to an impressive Rs 53.80 crore in just two days.
Dhamaal 4 also recorded improved occupancy across the day on Saturday. According to Sacnilk, the film registered an overall Hindi occupancy of 37.29 per cent across 10,954 shows. Occupancy rose steadily from 12.77 per cent in the morning to 33.92 per cent in the afternoon, before climbing to 43.77 per cent in the evening and peaking at 58.69 per cent during the night shows.
The Ajay Devgn-starrer is currently facing stiff competition at the box office from multiple releases, including Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle, Alia Bhatt's Alpha, Telugu action drama Lenin, and Hollywood titles Evil Dead Burn and the live-action Moana.
Despite the crowded release slate, the comedy has maintained strong momentum and appears well-positioned heading into its opening weekend.
India Today gave the film a rating of 1.5 stars. A part of its review read, "Directed by Indra Kumar, the fourth instalment of the beloved comedy franchise sticks to the one formula it knows best: a treasure hunt. The cast remains largely intact. Ajay Devgn leads the pack as Guddu, joined by Sanjay Mishra, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh and Jaaved Jaaferi. The new additions include Anjali Anand, Ravi Kishan, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Esha Gupta, who appears for barely four scenes, and two children. Unfortunately, none of them add much to a plot that feels as elusive as the treasure everyone is chasing."
