Bihar family hosts birthday party on Rs 26-crore bridge shut over safety concerns
A birthday party with music and dancing was organised on a closed railway overbridge in Bihar. The viral videos have triggered outrage.

A lavish birthday party organised by a family in Bihar on railway overbridge closed over safety concerns has landed the organiser in legal trouble after videos of the celebration went viral on social media.
The celebration was held on the Buxar-Itarhi railway overbridge, a structure built at a cost of Rs 26.4 crore. The bridge has remained closed for the public since June 5 after engineers detected structural defects, prompting authorities to suspend traffic over safety concerns.
Despite the restrictions, videos from July 11 showed people gathering on the bridge for a birthday celebration featuring loud music, dancing and a stage programme. The clips went viral, leaving many questioning how such an event was allowed on a bridge that had been declared unsafe for public use.
The incident has reignited concerns over the bridge, which had already come under scrutiny after developing faults within just 90 days of its inauguration.
Responding to the controversy, Buxar Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya said an FIR has been registered against the event organiser, identified as Rakesh Kumar Singh. A case has been filed under multiple sections of the law, and further action is underway.
As the videos gained traction, questions were raised about possible lapses in security and enforcement, with many asking how organisers managed to access the restricted structure despite an official ban.
