A Gurugram cab driver's candid conversation with Zypp Electric founder Akash Gupta has gone viral after he revealed why he quit a 19-year IT career, and how the decision helped him double his monthly income.

Gupta shared the video on social media after striking up a conversation with the driver during his ride. Curious about his journey, he asked the driver how much he currently earns.

"Aur kitna kamate ho aaj kal? (So, how much do you earn these days?)" Gupta asked.

"Ho jata hai 80-90 ka mahina (It comes to around Rs 80,000-90,000 a month)," the driver replied, adding that his monthly income has more than doubled since leaving his corporate job.

As the conversation continued, the driver revealed that he had spent 19 years working in the IT sector, earning around Rs 40,000 a month before deciding to quit.

When Gupta asked why he left a stable salaried job, the driver gave a simple answer: "Freedom nahi tha (There was no freedom)."

Gupta then asked if he had found the freedom he was looking for.

"Han (Yes)," the driver replied with a smile.

The driver explained that becoming self-employed gave him greater control over his time and work, something he had long wanted despite the uncertainty that comes with running one's own livelihood.

He also shared that his family's financial situation had improved over time. According to him, his wife now runs her own beauty parlour, adding another source of income for the household.

Watch the video:

The conversation ended on an encouraging note, with Gupta congratulating the driver on his journey and wishing him continued success.

The video quickly gained traction online, with many viewers applauding the driver's decision to prioritise independence over the perceived security of a corporate job.

Several users said his story challenged the common belief that a white-collar office job is the only path to financial stability.

Others, however, pointed out that driving a cab comes with its own challenges, including long hours, rising fuel costs and the uncertainty of daily earnings.

While experiences may differ, many agreed that the driver's story highlighted an important point: career success is often defined not just by income, but by the freedom and satisfaction people find in the work they choose.
