Man quits corporate career after 18 years, says office politics cost him promotion
Dharmendra Pandey, who describes himself in his Instagram bio as someone "helping working professionals build an income outside their job," posted a video reflecting on his nearly two decades in the corporate world and the lessons he learnt before quitting.

A man who has spent 18 years working in corporate jobs has shared why he resigned despite having a family dependent on him, saying he had "never felt so much alive" after making the decision.
Dharmendra Pandey, who describes himself in his Instagram bio as someone "helping working professionals build an income outside their job,” posted a video reflecting on his nearly two decades in the corporate world and the lessons he learnt before quitting.
In the video, Pandey said he had resigned from his corporate job just a few days earlier, even though his family depended entirely on his income.
"I resigned from my 18-year corporate job just a few days ago. My family is entirely dependent on me. But I have never felt so much alive in my life," he said.
Recalling his career, Pandey said he worked at several companies where he consistently put in extra effort, stayed beyond working hours, trained new employees and handled escalations. Despite his commitment, promotions repeatedly went to others because of workplace politics.
However, turning 38 earlier this year prompted him to rethink his future. He has a 10-year-old daughter, ageing parents and only six months' worth of financial backup, but decided to take the leap because he believed his experience was worth more than what he was earning.
"I am not special. I don't have savings of crores. I just have a backup of six months. I have a burning frustration. And a belief in myself that my 18 years of experience are worth more than what I am getting right now. That is the reason why I resigned, and I have started building alongside my job," he said.
Sharing his biggest takeaway from his two decades in the corporate sector, Pandey encouraged others to recognise the value of their existing skills.
