A wedding in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district was briefly called off after the groom's younger brother allegedly pulled the bride's pallu during a wedding ritual, triggering a fight between the two families that left several people injured.

Police officials said that the wedding procession arrived as scheduled and the ceremony was progressing. However, during the final wedding rituals, the groom's younger brother allegedly pulled the bride's pallu as a joke.

The act was objected to by the bride's uncle, leading to a heated argument between members of the two families. Officials said some people from both sides were allegedly under the influence of alcohol, and the verbal altercation soon turned into a physical fight.

The groom suffered a head injury in the clash, while the bride's cousin was also injured. The disturbance forced the wedding rituals to be stopped, and both parties were taken to the police station.

On Thursday, the two families held discussions at the police station in the presence of the village head. After prolonged talks, they reached a mutual settlement, with Rs 4,500 being provided towards the treatment of the injured.

Following the compromise, both families returned to the village, where the remaining wedding rituals were completed later that evening.
