Video: Bus ploughs through crowd in Indore, crushes multiple autos; 1 dead, 2 injured

One person was killed, and two others were injured after a city bus suddenly went out of control and ploughed through a crowd, crushing multiple autorickshaws in Indore, police said.

The incident took place at the Rajwada Nagar Seva bus stand when the PM E-Seva electric bus, which was parked at the time, suddenly started moving and became uncontrollable. CCTV footage captured the accident.

The three injured people were rushed to MY Hospital for treatment. One of them, identified as Pintu alias Ganesh, died during treatment. The other two remain admitted to the hospital.

PARKED BUS SUDDENLY MOVES

According to preliminary information, the bus was parked at the bus stand when it suddenly moved forward and headed towards the area where several people and autorickshaws were present.

The bus hit multiple autorickshaws before ploughing into people in its path. The sudden movement of the bus triggered panic in the area, with people running for safety.

A witness said the bus was moving at high speed and appeared to be out of the driver's control. Police are investigating whether a brake failure or another mechanical issue caused the bus to become uncontrollable.

DRIVER DETAINED AFTER ACCIDENT

Following the accident, the driver allegedly tried to flee the spot but was detained by police. Senior police officer Dishes Agrawal said the driver had been taken into custody and was being questioned. A medical examination will also be conducted to determine whether he was under the influence of alcohol.

Police are examining the circumstances that led to the bus suddenly moving and the driver's role in the accident. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

Following the accident, a crowd gathered at the spot. Police from the MG Road station reached the area. Angry members of the public also damaged the bus after the incident.
