Shagun's long stay, contestants returning: Orry on fans calling KKK 15 unfair

Khatron Ke Khiladi 15 has had its share of debates over whether some contestants got an advantage over others. Fans have been questioning everything from evicted celebs returning to the show to Shagun Sharma’s long stay, even when she performed the least number of stunts. Orry, who was part of the season, has now weighed in on the debate, saying that while he does not consider contestants being brought back unfair, there were certain aspects of the game that he himself felt were unfair.

Talking about whether he felt some contestants got an unfair advantage, particularly those who returned to the show after elimination, Orry told India Today that this is not necessarily how he sees it.

He said, "See, life is unfair and that's just the way the cookie crumbles. When it comes to people coming back to the show, it is up to the makers. They didn't bring Avika back, nor did Shagun get a chance again. It also depends on how you performed. Even returning to the show is something you have to achieve."

"Either you were performing well, or you're giving good content; there's a reason you're back. So, you can't really say it's unfair because there's a reason someone's been given a second chance. I am sure if I got out, maybe I would have been given a second chance too," Orry added.

There were, however, situations that Orry genuinely felt were unfair, especially when it came to contestants getting to watch someone else perform a stunt and understand their strategy before attempting it themselves.

He said, "But there were things that were unfair. I feel like sometimes if someone goes second, they get to see the first person's strategy. The bar is already set. There's more pressure on them as well, but I always found it slightly unfair. I was put first many times and never got to see the person performing. And when I did go later, we were moved to a holding area. We couldn't see the stunt. So I felt like those moments were a little unfair."

Orry, interestingly, does not put Shagun Sharma’s long run on the show in the same category. While contestants have been taking a dig at her performance on social media, he mentioned that Shagun stayed in the game because of her own ability to survive the game. Though he also jokingly credited her with "weird black magic."

"And I wouldn't say Shagun getting ahead and slipping by was unfair because that wasn't the producers, makers or Rohit Shetty allowing that. She just managed to evade stunts and eliminations. Shagun was doing some weird things; there would be some smell of burning sage coming out of her room or some black magic she was doing. So I wouldn't call that unfair. She was doing something and that was working. I should actually ask her what she was doing," Orry added with a laugh.

That said, Orry does question what happened when Shagun was unable to perform the tear gas stunt and Vishal Aditya Singh stepped in as her proxy. For him, the issue was not simply that she was given another chance, but that the person performing on her behalf was someone he considers among the strongest contestants the show has had.

"And you know, when Shagun was like, I am unwell, she had Vishal proxy for her in the tear gas stunt. I was like, Vishal won that stunt in his season. You got the best player in Khatron Ke Khiladi in tear gas to do proxy for you. How is that fair? And then Vishal got eliminated before her (he made a comeback, though). But she had luck favouring her, or she was doing some magic to skip episodes," he concluded.
